thinking about my soon to be apartment...
A little early but already thinking about what each room will look like! I am starting by thinking of rugs, since for some reason, I seem to be collecting them. I have a really great colorful one I got a few years back from Pottery Barn, made from scraps of fabric in just about every single color ever dreamed of...
I am thinking of using this in the kitchen, I have been searching for some prints for the walls. I found these at Crate and Barrel, the artist is Chariklia Zarris (who has tons more than just these ones on art.com):
Chariklia Zarris "Classical Symmetry" at crateandbarrel.com
Some other options I have been considering:
Kim Parker "Garden of Hope" at art.com
Deborah DuPont "Door Series" at overstock.com
Bellows "Barn Series" at overstock.com
For the bedroom, I am hoping for a serene feeling and found these first at Crate and Barrel (Also by Chariklia Zarris). I am thinking possibly a set of 3 over the bed...
Chariklia Zarris "Liquidity" at crateandbarrel.com
I think this might involve a new rug:
Cooper Cotton Mat at potterybarn.com
Still not entirely sure of the living room and bathroom, but so far, thinking I will use my golden/yellow rug in the living room and maybe vintage travel posters (I really love these, I did entire accessories project at FIT on them, specifically, the South of France, but as long as they are colorful, location isn't that important) As for the bathroom, I was thinking greens. More to come soon, nothing is set in stone, I am just getting very excited!!!

it's about time...
Finally!!! I signed the lease on an apartment for April 1st! It's finally hitting me, work has been so nutty, I haven't had much time to really relish in the fact that I will soon be totally on my own. I have been living out of boxes and suitcases for years, finally a place to spread out and be on my own. OK, so here are the details (I got an amazing deal!) it's a one bedroom, really much more space than I really need! Like I said, a nice sized bedroom, a pretty big living room and a huge kitchen....but that's not all, a big, CLEAN bathroom, a 3-season porch, a pantry and... every girl's dream... a walk-in closet!!! I am excited to do some before and after photos. Don't get me wrong, it's big, but definitely not "fancy," charming and unique is how I will describe it! I don't have a lot to start with but am already having fun searching out what I want and finding good deals! I have a gigantic dresser from my parents that I repainted in varied shades of brown (I have dreams of stripping it and staining it, but lacking the time and ventilation!) I am also acquiring my childhood kitchen table from my parents, it is a round, dark, drop-leaf table, very rustic, farmhouse-style. At first I was thinking mismatched, colorful chairs, but I have been thinking more of a woven banana-leaf/abaca/rattan type dining chair. I have found a few options, now I am just comparing for perfection. My head is filled with ideas! My other priority is that I promised myself, once I was on my own, I would create a space to be creative. No more excuses, I have so many supplies and ideas, finally they will all be in the same spot! I am going to make a workshop!! Bags, jewelry, other crafts...it doesn't matter, as long as I am creating! I look forward to sharing!
