wedding season...

I've been quite busy with my friends wedding the past few months, I have held off on posting about it until 1. I had more time and 2. after it was complete, so I didn't give anything away. I was Maid of Honor, so I got to do a good amount of planning / entertaining, and decided to be a little creative.

The Bachelorette Party: I planned a fairly low-key evening out in Boston. First I spent the night at the bride's new house, a lazy evening, since I just returned from Germany that afternoon. We got up and ran some errands before heading into Boston for manicures, drinks at the Top of the Hub and some shopping. We met back at her house, where I gave her a little bird cage veil I made for the occasion, along with her "Bride To Be" sash, also created for the night. (I was a little disappointed by what I found at the party stores and thought, I can make something so much better!) Once everyone arrived, we piled into a limo and were off to Fire and Ice, it was fun to all pick whatever we wanted. Next we were off to the Improv Asylum for the Mainstage Show, very funny! Finally, we ended the night with a night cap at the Brasserie Joe, the bar at the same place the bride would soon be getting married. In between this all, all the attendees played quiz games regarding the bride and won recycled flip flop bracelets and little notepads. Everyone left with a "custom" champagne. Certainly was not the "typical" crazy night out, but most importantly, the bride felt special and we all made fast, new friendships!

The Bridal Shower: We waited to hold the shower until her mother was in town from South Africa, so it ended up being held just two weeks before the wedding. Organizing this was really fun! I modeled the invites after some fun creations I found at my new favorite spot, Papersource :) I printed out bright fronts and backs, then applied some tiny paper flags to each. (This seemed like a great idea, until I got into the spray adhesive, what a mess! also caused the bride's invite to get lost, stuck to something, somewhere!) I knew I would keep the flag theme throughout the shower, and luckily ended up at Michael's when paper was $1 for 8 sheets! The major theme was based around a bouquet the bride pinned (twice) on pinterest. It was colorful, unique and beautiful, just like the bride! Everywhere I went, I found "supplies" to match. Plates, napkins, tissue paper for pom poms. I found a few great recipes and games, got a little help from the bride's friends and family.

The Wedding: The whole day was just wonderful, the weather finally cleared and the bride was so happy throughout. We lucked out with nice, classic pale gold dresses ourselves, while the bride was in a very regal mermaid style gown. The flowers and colors were oranges, pinks, yellows and greens. I made the necklaces for myself and the bridesmaid, they were delicate gold chains with a bunch of carnelian briolettes. The photographer was nice enough to take a few photos, looking forward to seeing those (I have made jewelry for some other weddings, will post those soon!). I also made some small pearl bracelets with a large rhinestone in the center (to match the brides gown) for the flower girls. All in all, a fantastic wedding that left everyone raving!
