quotes...

just a few quotes from my favorite bitsotruth.blogspot.com to keep the mind in "check," enjoy:

bike baskets...

So... I signed up for a 25 mile charity bike ride last year and decided I should purchase my first bicycle in 15 years! After realizing 1. "girl's" bikes are pink, 2. I can't really see myself racing around on a road bike and 3. when I picture myself on a bike, I see a vintage bike with a sweet little basket, riding to the farmer's market! So I ended up finding an ivory, hybrid (part road/part cruiser) Schwinn at Target. Schwinn made me think vintage Americana (though in all honesty, I doubt it is even built in the US anymore) and you can see it in the styling (note the lack of pink):

After completing 25 miles on a 45 pound bike, I realized this is the perfect bicycle for trips to the farmer's market and there is a great (flat) bike path behind my new place! As a reward for the ride, I have been promising myself a basket... I cannot decide between oval, rectangle or classic tapered, but I know it will be coming from the Nantucket Bike Basket Company:

The Tuckernuck Collection:

 The Cisco Collection:

The Cruiser Collection:
 The Dionis Collection:

The Dionis Collection is actually half the price of the others, but the others are only $50 and will be a "classic" little investment! So I think I need to think about shape first, hmmmm... In addition to the basket, I might look into investing in a leather seat and grips... to be continued...

quotes...

When life feels a little hard, sometimes I feel like reading a few quotes seems to put me at ease. Tonight I turned to my favorite blog of quotes (all the following quotes are from bitsotruth.blogspot.com)

twinkle toes...

On one of my favorite blogs, cupcakes and cashmere, Emily showed off a new manicure of bright orange polish with a scattering of golden sparkles on only her ring fingers:

She then did her friends nails in a turquoise theme:

This got me thinking, though I can never keep polish on my nails... I love to paint my toes! Right now my toes are essie "jazz," a great opaque taupe. Instead of repainting, I decided tiny, silver sparkles scattered on the big toe nail would be pretty fun. In my search for the perfect sparkles, I wandered across a sidewalk sale at my neighborhood "creativity shop." Low and behold, a basket full of $2 glitters!!! (among a bunch of other treasures I wasn't aware I needed;)

This is my current color scheme:

and the result (apologies, my feet aren't the prettiest but this sure helps!):
I think it came out subtle but whimsical! and more to play with:
Off to show off the tootsies in the sun!

the list...

I wish it were socially "ok" to take pictures of people when you see a great outfit. The other day, on my way to the subway, on kind of a dreary, drizzly day, I passed a girl who looked adorably "classic," wearing khaki trench and a tweed driving cap, under a navy and white striped umbrella... a few more things to add to my list :) Thought it might be fun today to compile a few things I am eying at the moment and start a new posting theme called "the list..." as my little shopping list:

from top to bottom: straw fedora from bananarepublic.com, classic trench from bananarepublic.com, black sardinia wedges from jcrew.com, herringbone driving cap from jcrew.com, peggy wedge from ninewest.com, striped tote from rugby.com, navy wool schoolboy blazer from jcrew.com

a life worth writing down...

Well, I have not found as much time to post as I imagined but I really hope to pick it back up, I really enjoy it. A lot on my mind lately, life has gotten pretty busy, between regular working and working on my apartment! I am making a dent there but still so much more to go. Art is one thing, I cannot seem to make up my mind. Anyhow, I love the place and am loving getting it just right. I have a few projects in the works too, refinishing furniture, creating an inspirational workplace and hoping my not so green thumb reverses its misfortune soon! (there are a few "sprigs of hope" coming through, here's hoping) Also, I have the opportunity to head to Martha's Vineyard for two weeks this summer and am beyond, what one would refer to as, excited! I have been once, but this time I will be on my own (though I have to work from the hotel for a week) but to be able to explore, take pictures and just for the experience. I tend to love things but really believe life is about the experience! More to write soon...
