creative & organized...

I find I do my best work when I feel organized! I have a few pints of colored paint that I have been using randomly around the apartment so I decided to paint my "found" craft desk stem green. While I was at it, I did a little re-organizing too...

bacon & blueberry pancakes...

I saw something similar on pinterest a few weeks back and decided to give it a try. There is no real recipe I followed other than on the Bisquick box! I cut the ingredients in half, since it is just me and I only had 3 slices of bacon left. I cooked the bacon in the microwave (and unfortunately decided to pre-heat the griddle at the same time - blew a fuse and have to wait for tuesday to get it fixed!) ok, back to the point, finished cooking the bacon on the griddle (on the other side of the kitchen ;) then mixed up the batter with a handful of blueberries, frozen from the summer... I poured the batter over the length of each strip of bacon and let it brown. Topped off with some butter, syrup and a sprinkle of brown sugar and it was heaven!

welcome 2012...

Well, 2012 has started :) I didn't really make any resolutions this year, the past few years I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out life, what fulfills me and doing the things I enjoy! I have been spending time on my jewelry, more quality time with my family and friends, more me time and am healthier :) so I will just keep doing what i am doing! A little project I had been wanting to start for awhile now but could never decide on what color etc. It came to me right before the holiday, blue to match my bedroom (blue and green). I sanded it down and painted it and even painted the fixtures silver... I was going to "reupholster" the interior but right now I think the red looks pretty too!

good bye 2011...

Thinking back, it has been a pretty good year overall... I moved out on my own, spent some time watching 2 little angels grow (still crazy that they were once in my best friend's tummy :), got to spend 2 amazing weeks exploring martha's vineyard, spent much more valuable time with my friends and family, even re-connecting with a few from the past, spent a lot of time nurturing my creativity and am growing and feeling pretty happy at my job! It did have some hard points, I lost my aunt and then my uncle within months of each other but find some peace knowing they are together again... while it was a pretty big year in my life, I feel excited to think of the possibilities of the coming year. Here's to celebrating 2011 and the anticipation of 2012!

merry merry...

A little late but still feeling festive! This year was my first Christmas on my own, which of course involved my very own Christmas tree!

Of course nothing compares to the feeling of being home for Christmas. This year my parents got the fattest tree I have ever seen! I decked the halls, so to speak, when I arrived home. The old farmhouse always looks its best at Christmas! Wish I took some pictures, my dad is planning to send some :) hopefully before I post!

In addition to the Christmas at my apartment and home. I went up to New Hampshire for a Christmas weekend with my friend, her family and her two precious babies! They turned 1 the weekend before Christmas :) I found them little handprint ornament kits and decided to tackle a cute pattern i saw on pinterest, with a few flairs because these are some special little ladies! It was hard for me to stick to 1 pair each!

I also got a chance to catchup with friends, a Christmas walk through Beacon Hill and drinks in Cambridge. I even met up with an old friend at home that I had not seen in 4 years! I love Christmastime, everything feels so special.

A few festive pics I have run across:
