Waking up on my last day, still in disbelief of my prior night, I again had the infamous thought, how could it get any better? My experience so far should have prepared me for the answer :) On the walk downtown, I saw the sky moving a bit more, I wasn't sure if I was just tired and it was too light for it to show in photos. I wandered around to grab my last few souvenirs. I didn't get the chance to go up to the top of
Hallgrímskirkja the day before, so I headed back there before heading back to the hotel. Once inside, I was treated to a group of children practicing Christmas carols! Once at the top, I broke out my zoom lens and got a chance to see all of Reykjavik and the surrounding area. To top off my adventure, I watched the sun rise over the city!
At the airport, I had time for a quick bite. On my flight, I peeked out the window at the right moment to see Greenland and settled in ready to start my holiday celebrations with my favorite Christmas movie.
I treated myself to a few treasures to memorialize my trip. I wish I could have gotten everyone lopapeysa's but found these adorable key chains that I made into ornaments!
I still feel so amazed on how this solo adventure turned out. It was even better than I had ever imagined! I didn't even crack the surface of Iceland, there is so much more I want to see that a second trip is definitely required! This trip helped me see that I am capable of a lot more than I ever dreamed and has me looking forward to more adventures! :)
